A Reflection on this year.
This year I was in Painting and Drawing. I learned that when I'm in Drawing, I desperately want to paint. When I'm in Painting, I desperately wish to be drawing. I think I'm just made for independent work because I get so bored easily. However, I really like how my pieces turned out this year. I really look forward to doing more independent work next year. It's gonna be a blast.
In Painting I learned that I am fairly versatile with different kinds of paint. I used to like working with oil the best but now I have a preference for acrylic. I learned that just slowing down really can make a huge difference in how the piece turns out. Also, I learned that I really want to try painting with more media, like wax for example. I'd like to experiment with texture.
In Drawing, I learned that using very simple lines can add a really cool look and almost an edgy-ness to pieces. I learned that I am most comfortable and in my element with just a pencil and a piece of paper. I feel more free than when I paint. I learned that I have grown better at capturing a human form in drawing that I used to, which is nice. I was growing annoyed of having my people look just like they did when I was 12.
